There are several areas near Banff and Canmore that have accessible, easy waterfalls to experience the sport in a safe and fun way. Johnson’s Canyon and The Junkyards are two popular spots that we go to. It is easy for the guides to set up a rope for you and the climbs are short you can get instruction as you climb. Learn about the gear and techniques while enjoying this unique environment.
If you have some experience there are plenty of other single pitch ice climbing venues for you to try as well!

If you are a young adult living in the Bow Valley you may be eligible for one of the ice climbing courses we teach for BanffLife, for more info read on or email Christine at BanffLife. You must be between the ages 18 and 30, and live in the Bow Valley to join these trips.

In a small group you will learn from some of the best climbers/ACMG guides in the Valley. No experience necessary.
