Mother’s Day is a Banff classic. It is situated just a few minutes drive from town on Cascade Mountain. After a 20 minute approach we rope up and start up the first slab. It is sustained easy to mid-fifth class climbing for the entire route. There are outstanding views of the Bow Valley and Banff town. To descend we walk through a cool hanging forest halfway up the mountain, traverse above the famous Cascade waterfall, and make a single rappel to get back to the lower slopes.
