If there is one thing we have learned the past few years, it is that anything can happen. It is in your best interests to protect yourself in case you are unable to come on your trip for any reason and if something occurs while you are on the trip. You have a few different options to insure yourself in case you need to cancel your trip. There is both cancellation and medical insurance available for issues related to Covid-19.
Credit Card Coverage
If you pay by credit card, the card issuing company may offer similar insurance options as those described below. It is important that you carefully research whether your card offers this, and what the coverage consists of.

Mountain Rescue Insurance
