Sport and Trad Climbing

There are hundreds of cliffs and thousands of routes within an hour's drive of Banff. We can climb at local limestone crags, pulling on pockets and edges, or go to Lake Louise to sample steep, solid quartzite. Much of our crag climbing is bolted but we also have some excellent trad routes. If you need a partner to belay you, just want to ride some top-ropes or would like some instruction, contact us!

Limestone around Canmore and Banff

Limestone is the predominate rock in the area. Choose from lower angled face climbing to vertical or overhanging walls. Some of the limestone areas we climb at are:

  • Grassi Lakes

  • Black Band

  • Cougar Creek

Quartzite at Lake Louise

The Back of the Lake area at Lake Louise is well known for its quality quartzite climbing amidst a stunning backdrop of high peaks and glaciers. Sport and trad climbing of all difficulties are found here. This is our favourite place to climb!
