Guided Backcountry Skiing at Sol Mountain Lodge

Come skiing in the Monashee Mountains! A comfortable lodge, a sauna, and great food all complement skiing powder all day with a group of friends, without crowds chasing after your line. A helicopter flight brings you into a remote corner of British Columbia and you start skiing as soon as you walk out the door.

Choices, choices

Both types of skiing: alpine and trees

Big alpine terrain is combined with what I consider to be the best tree skiing in Canada. There are so many trip options: summits, chutes, tree laps, loops. There are opportunities to ski steep when conditions are good and to keep it mellow when avalanche conditions dictate. Sol has a deep snowpack, with 3 metres or more of snow on the ground by January most years.

Is it a lodge or a hotel?

It’s hard to say! Sol is the most comfortable of the backcountry ski touring lodges in BC. A big drying room, spacious common areas including yoga room, commercial-grade kitchen, double occupancy bedrooms, two showers, and five indoor toilets. Solar and hydro power keep it green. There is limited internet available to enable us to keep in touch but mostly concentrate on our skiing! A sauna is adjacent to the lodge.

The team

Mark Klassen has skied at Sol many times and will be joined by an experienced guiding team made up of two more certified guides. Multiple lodge staff including tail guides, a lodge manager, and chef keep things rolling.
